Our recommendation

We have a good level of privacy on this site, however, for other sites you can increase your level of privacy when browsing the internet. Injeniero recommends:

  • Avoid commercial VPNs, and instead use VPNs controlled by you (requires technical knowledge but is not difficult, using OpenVPN or WireGuard on vps you trust). If your company requires help, we can support you.
  • Use 2 VPNs, one “in” and one “out” thus hiding the destination traffic to the first VPN and the origin to the second.
  • Configure your browser to avoid third-party cookies and to automatically clear your cache after closing it. In addition, clear browser cache and cookies manually after visits. Also have your browsers up to date.

Additionally, if the objective is only to consume information:

  • Disable Javascript. Be aware that many sites break with Javascript disabled, but it is perfect if the objective is only to consume content especially from old devices. Most blogs are generated from the server or as static content, so they generally work without javascript. Injeniero.com works fine without javascript. However, certain functionalities such as appearance button, contents button, achievements button Icon Achievements Injeniero, and contact form require Javascript.

Reasons for information collection

Injeniero collects information from its visitors for the following purposes:

Macro objective: To consolidate ourselves as a web agency in sustainability, which implies improving our products, services, marketing and of course our website.

Specific objectives:

  1. Answer requests in our form (contact)
  2. Understanding the use of our site (web analytics)
  3. Incident management in case of attacks (cybersecurity) or spam

Security

Every visit is logged for security reasons and is collected:

  • Visiting IP
  • User-Agent of the client (browser type, OS, etc)
  • Date of the visit
  • Referer of the visit
  • Technical information of the request such as type of request (GET, POST), etc

The management of security logs follows the best practices of the industry. In turn, every 2 weeks historical information is deleted.

Web Analytics

Injeniero uses its own scripts to generate web statistics and collects for each session:

Collected from web server logs

  • IP. All IP is anonymized by removing the last octet and replacing it with a 0. Example IP 198.168.0.111 is saved as 192.168.0.0
  • Referer. Address of the website from which the resource was requested

Stored in the visitor’s browser’s LocalStorage

The localStorage information lasts until it is manually cleared from the browser.

  • vis. It is an ID of the visitor for the purpose of knowing that it is the same (anonymous) user who makes a second visit
  • po. It’s the achievements Achievements icon achieved by the visitor (such as reading certain pages or finding the secret message)
  • options-icon. Indicates the user’s preference to keep the appearance button (resize texts, dark/light mode) unfolded or collapsed
  • anchors-icon. Indicates the user’s preference to keep the content button (anchors links on each page) displayed or collapsed
  • no. It’s the achievements Achievements icon of the user that have not yet been viewed (pending as a notification)
  • notification. Stores the status of whether or not there are notifications of achievements Achievements icon

Stored in the visitor’s browser’s SessionStorage

The sessionStorage information is deleted after you close the browser window.

  • to. Time of first visit
  • ses. It is an ID linked to the session that allows you to link different pages visited while in the same or other windows
  • re. Initial page that the user visited
  • en. User’s First Visit Referer
  • cli. Information about the clicks made by the user along with the moment. For example, after 20 seconds he clicked on us

Generated in runtime

  • Canva hash ID. It is used to associate different visits to the same session in case the cache has been cleared
  • Device type (mobile, pc)
  • Local language
  • Local time
  • Timezone
  • Screen dimensions
  • Mode (dark/light)

Contact form

Injeniero requests the following information to quote its services:

  • Full name
  • Company name
  • Corporate email
  • Which service is insterested in
  • Urgency or deadline of the project
  • Project details
  • Privacy Policy Acceptance

In turn, the submission of the form collects the following additional data:

  • Applicant IP
  • a form ID
  • Time it took to fill out the form
  • web statistics of the associated visit

Explicit acceptance of this privacy policy is necessary in order to send such information to our servers. In this case, the contact form information is stored for 2 weeks and then deleted from the servers.

In order to improve the user experience, when interacting with the form, the following information is saved in localStorage, which is deleted with the successful submission of the form:

  • completed. Last completed step of the form
  • last. Step in which the user left the form
  • instructions. Indicates that the instructions for the form were shown the first time
  • username. Save the user name
  • email. Save the user email
  • company. Save the company name
  • deadline. Save the deadline
  • services. Save the services
  • msg. Save the message
  • he. Save the height of the message input field
  • privacy. Indicate whether or not the user has accepted the privacy policy. No information on the form is sent if it is negative.

With successful submission of the form, the status (which can be viewed from achievements Achievements icon:

  • myRef. Successfully submitted form reference code
  • myTim. Local time the form was sent

This information is automatically deleted 2 days after it is sent.

GDPR

Injeniero considers the following causes of legitimate interest without the need for prior consent:

  • IP logging as a security measure (best practices in cybersecurity)
  • Anonymous web statistics as information to improve its services

For everything else, such as the storage in our servers of personal information such as name and email, explicit consent is required in the contact form.

Injeniero considers that the fact of not using third-party scripts, cookies or services, together with anonymizing web analytics is an excellent level of privacy.

Note for future customers

Nowadays it is possible to use proprietary methods and scripts to collect user behavior information (A/B testing, heatmaps, hotmaps, clicks, unique visits, device preference, etc.) without the need to use products that help “Uncle Sam” and are not “privacy friendly” such as google, cloudflare and others. Good privacy will not only be appreciated by your users, but many times it is simply complying with the law.
